Product Review: SOYJOY® // Gluten free, all-natural real fruit and whole soy bars

Screen Shot 2014-06-11 at 4.36.52 PM

When I first started my gluten free diet in 2009 I was eating SOYJOY® bars all the time. When I traveled to Asia that fall, SOYJOY® bars were my go to snack, and lucky for me they were everywhere in Asia! I haven’t been eating SOYJOY® bars as regularly as I used to but I do still enjoy them so I was thrilled when I had the opportunity to try all 7 flavors—I’d only tried 4 or 5 in the past. SOYJOY® bars are naturally gluten free ‘energy’ bars made with all natural REAL ingredients like real fruit and whole soy. Each bar has only 130-140 calories, are low GI, and have 0g trans fat. Additionally SOYJOY® bars are made without artificial colors, flavors, or hydrogenated oils. Flavors: Dark Chocolate… Read More »

Screen Shot 2013-12-08 at 5.49.26 PM

Enjoy Life makes good tasting food that is also safe for people with food allergies, and celiac disease. All of their products are free of the top 8 allergies—that is, wheat, dairy, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, soy, shellfish, and fish—as well as gluten, casein, potato, sesame, and sulfites, and are verified by the Non-GMO project. I’ve been buying Enjoy Life Foods for years; they are a reliable company that makes quality and healthy products. Recently, Enjoy Life upgraded their most popular bars—Chewy Bars. The four original flavors, Cocoa Loco, SunButter Crunch, Mixed Berry, and Apple Caramel are now even better than before. More chocolate chips have been added to the Cocoa Loco bar and the other 3 bars are now made with ancient grains! Soft and chewy, these bars are… Read More »

Review: Gluten Sensitive Menu at City Table Restaurant

IMG_5273

City Table is a casual, yet elegant restaurant located in the Back Bay, where you can enjoy breakfast, weekend brunch, lunch, dinner or late night snacks. The cozy space, tucked into the Lenox Hotel, is the perfect place to take refuge after a long day of shopping on Newbury Street, a great option for a date night, or an inviting hangout to have drinks with friends. Owned and operated by The Briar Group, City Table is one of three restaurants within the Group that offer a Gluten Sensitive Menu—the other two are Anthem Kitchen + Bar and MJ O’Connor’s. Click here for my review of MJ O’Connor’s and click here for my review of Anthem. The Gluten Sensitive menu offers a nice selection of appetizers and entrées. It’s always nice… Read More »

Gluten Free Brunch options at Towne Stove & Spirits

IMG_5560

Amid the constant hum of Back Bay’s shopping hub at the Prudential Center and business activity in its towering office buildings sits Towne Stove and Spirits, Boston’s definitive something for everyone restaurant offering a host of lively experiences from handcrafted cocktails at the street-level bar overlooking Boylston Street, to comfort-focused bites, and refined main dishes in its multiple dining spaces. The atmosphere is both laid back and sophisticated. I loved the open dining room, with big windows that let in lots of light, and the high ceilings. The downstairs bar was much cozier and a bit darker; making it a great spot for a date night or after work drinks. Last Sunday I joined The Boston Brunchers to check out the Towne’s brunch buffet. After talking a walk around with… Read More »

Nebo Restaurant Review – Gluten Free Pizza, Pasta & More

IMG_5222

On June 20, 2013, Nebo opened in its new location on Atlantic Avenue, just next door to Trade. The restaurant, owned by sisters Carla and Christine Pallotta, was originally located in the North End before moving to its new location. Their mother and grandmother’s classic Italian recipes inspired them to first open the restaurant in 2005. Last week I was invited to check out Nebo’s gluten free menu with Amelia from Altus Marketing & Management. We had such a great night. I really liked the open layout and the industrial décor. It was a bit noisy, and there were times we had to strain to here each other. Nebo also offers outside seating along Atlantic Ave. While I was there I met both sisters, who informed me that Nebo has… Read More »

Barre to Bar with Exhale Spa, Aragosta, and Blog and Tweet Boston

aragosta

Last Saturday I joined Blog and Tweet Boston for a Core Fusion Barre class at the Exhale Spa Boston Battery Warf location. This is Exhale’s signature full body workout, and I can honestly say I’ve never sweat so much in my life! I work out regularly but this class was a real workout. Core Fusion Barre is designed to give you chiseled abs, toned legs, cut arms, and a high, lifted butt. This ballet inspired, core-centric class focuses on isolated exercises, alignment, flexibility, and posture as you work through targeted mindful muscle movements. It is suitable for all fitness levels. There were [many] moments my muscles were burning and shaking. It was an intense, hard, and non-stop 60 minutes of exercising and stretching. Our instructor Meg was great. She was… Read More »

Review: Gluten Free Menu at Anthem Bar + Kitchen

Screen shot 2013-09-17 at 4.35.05 PM

Believe it or not there are a handful of restaurants in Faneuil Hall that offer gluten free menu options, including Bangkok Express, Wagamama, and Anthem Kitchen + Bar. Tucked into the historic heart of Boston’s Faneuil Hall, Anthem Kitchen + Bar offers a casual chic atmosphere and good drinks. The first floor features floor-to-ceiling windows that are opened during the summer months, offering guests an al fresco dining experience. Anthem is a great spot for people watching, and if you get seated on the second floor, you can look out over all the tourists and trees, while enjoying the comfort of air conditioning. Owned and operated by The Briar Group, Anthem Kitchen + Bar is one of three restaurants within the Group that offer a Gluten Sensitive Menu— the other… Read More »
